Best Management Practices

Best management practices (BMPs) are proactive methods or practices used during woodlot management activities to achieve goals related to water quality, soil protection, forest health and wildlife habitat. It is not wrong to include health and safety in the list but BMPs are typically in the context of site impact.  In the big picture, watercourse protection and occupational health and safety are the two leading areas of concern during active harvest operations.  This section will focus on site impacts.  Click here for the NSAWC health and safety program.
